Make 04// Easy No-Sew Pennant Banner

Hi there! I'm about to head out to work, so I'll keep this post pretty short- I made this pennant banner today. It's was super easy, fairly inexpensive (I already had a lot of the materials) and it did not require a sewing machine. My sewing machine and I are on a little bit of a break because it was being annoyingly temperamental while I was working on my last project. So it's nice to have a new-sew project and not have to deal with a temperamental bobbin carriage. Also, sorry for the crummy phone photos... I got rolling on this project quickly and didn't end up picking up my camera throughout the whole process.

You will need:

-1/4 yard of four different fabrics
-HeatnBond Iron on Adhesive
-1/4 yard burlap
-1/4 yard Pellon Craft-Fuse
-Pencil
-Pinking Shears
-An iron
-Hot Glue
-Twine
-Letter Stencils (unless you're really brave and intend to freehand it. I salute you if you choose this option.)

For the pennants:

1. Cut HeatnBond Adhesive into desired sized triangles.
2. Iron adhesive (adhesive side down!) onto the backside of desired fabric.
3. Fold fabric over (so the adhesive is sandwiched in between the fabric and the fabric is right-side up on both sides)
4. Iron again.
5. Let cool.
6. Trace the triangles with a pencil (you can feel where the fabric is now stiffer due to the adhesive)/
7. Cut out triangles with pinking shears.

For the letters (optional):

1. Iron on the Pellon Craft-Fuse to the burlap.
2. Flip stencils over (so the letters are backwards) and trace desired letters onto the Craft-Fuse side of the Craft-Fuse/Burlap sandwich. (I must be hungry. This is the second time I've mentioned sandwiches. Ahem...sorry.)
3. Cut out letters.*

*Note: Carefully! Burlap tends to unravel easily. Use good scissors so you're not hacking away and accidentally unraveling the burlap.

For the banner:

1. Hot glue letters onto pennants.
2. Lay out desired length of twine and place pennants (face down!) along the length of twine where you want them to be glued, making sure to leave space on either end of the banner so you can tie it when you hang it up.
3. Fold top of pennant over twine and iron until it stays creased and folded over on it's own.
4. Hot glue twine and fold into place. (see photo above.)

This whole project took me about two hours. And if I can do it, you can do it! Happy crafting!
